Product Overview

When we are trying to make a change in our lives or we are supporting someone else to make changes, it can be easy to forget how far we’ve come. It can also be hard to measure progress when it is slow or non-linear. By losing sight of what we’ve already achieved, we can easily become disheartened and lose motivation to continue on the journey.

This is where scaling tools can be really valuable. Scaling tools can be used to measure and record even the smallest steps in the right direction. They can also be used to plan next steps. When we use them regularly, they can be used to create a map of our progress.

Growing well is a printable PDF scaling tool (5 x A4 PDF masters) that has been designed to help people track their mental health and wellbeing over time. It includes 50 statements divided into five suits: Being Organised, Being Satisfied, Being Healthy, Being Connected, and Being Active. Each of the five masters has 10 statements accompanied by a visual rating scale of a seedling growing into a tree.

These simple, practical scaling sheets can be printed, dated, written on, given away, used over time, and included in a client file or service folder if required. You can copy the masters as many times as you like and use them personally or in your work with clients or students, to support mental health and wellbeing.

People using the sheets can use them as a self-assessment tool and do their own recording, or they can record their responses with a counsellor, social worker, carer, support worker, therapist, clinician or GP.

Perfect for use in therapeutic settings, mental health support groups, wellbeing teams in schools, supervision, team wellbeing activities, and for personal use.

How to Use
  • Personal use: Choose an area you would like to work on (a suit). Fill in the scaling tool and identify one or two areas you would like to grow over the next month. Identify one action for each area and focus on this for the next month. Review progress at the end of the month.
  • In therapeutic sessions: Use Growing Well to measure progress and change over time. Invite people to choose an area they’d like to focus on. Where are you on the scale now? What would need to change for you to move up one place? If you were at the top of the scale, what would I notice about you?
  • Building wellbeing and self-care: Looking at the scale for an area you’d like to grow, where are things now? Think of a time you were higher – what was different? Could you do more of that now? What’s one small thing you could do to move the scale up?

Testimonials

I have a big heart for Innovative Resources and their tools because they’ve really journeyed with me as I’ve grown as a therapist

The most common question we’re asked is how do we talk with children about grief? Innovative Resources cards are a great place to start.

Shelly Skinner, CEO of Lionheart Lionheart’s programs are designed to educate children, teens, and adults about grief and loss.

We regularly used Innovative Resources card sets for team building, debriefing and talking about hopes and pictures of the future. I love the non-prescriptive nature of the cards. They are particularly useful in learning and talking about feelings with people of all ages who are not used to putting language to their feelings.
