The Bears in counselling

“I used The Bears to help children express their feelings and understand they’re not alone. This activity normalized their experiences and fostered a sense of belonging. Our first workshop was a great success—parents reported their children are now more open about feelings and family dynamics. I hope this also helped them reflect on what belonging means in families with a disabled or ill sibling.

The Bears will remain an essential tool in my work as a case manager for disadvantaged children and families. I plan to keep using these cards to support siblings in finding belonging within their group, family, and community.”

Jessica Flakemore, Counsellor
The Bears and mindfulness

“I work with adults and children facing stress and life challenges, individually and in workshops, and I’m continually amazed by the impact of The Bears cards. Their playful illustrations create relaxation and engagement, shifting focus from the person to the bears, which encourages honest expression without judgment. This process helps people of all ages discover practical ways to manage feelings and situations from within themselves.

Qualities like reflection, awareness, respect, and understanding often emerge—skills essential for wellbeing. I’m frequently thanked for the outcomes, but the credit truly belongs to The Bears!”

Exploring feelings

“I’ve been using The Bears with a group of 7-year-olds to explore feelings. I lay the cards out and ask each child to choose one that reflects how they feel. We sit in a circle, share guesses about each other’s bears, and then confirm or explain the feelings. The game is fun, encourages teamwork, and helps children learn to recognize and name emotions. I’m excited to try more of your resources!”
