Strengths Approach to Practice (1 day workshop)

Everyone has strengths. Our qualities, capacities, relationships, values, stories, experiences, skills and material resources can all be strengths.

But ‘The Problem’ can easily be experienced as all-consuming, keeping clients and services alike stuck and creating barriers to change. Strengths-based practice focusses squarely on identifying, mobilising and celebrating clients’ strengths.

Social workers, counsellors, managers, educators—and anyone who works with others—can become a catalyst for building cultures where strengths and connectedness flourish, so that clients build resilience, capacity for lasting change and genuine ‘agency’ in their own lives. This highly engaging and practical training facilitates

participants’ learning of strengths-based principles, skills and resources that can be applied immediately in their work.

(All who register will receive a copy of  ‘The Strengths Approach’ (Expanded second edition))

Nest Steps: Tools for Creating Change

It may be an old axiom but the concept of change being life’s great constant rings true for many of us.

Those of us who work in human services often find ourselves having a role to play in bringing about change. This thought-provoking and highly interactive workshop will explore a range of strengths-based, solutionfocused tools and strategies that can be used with clients and colleagues alike. Whether we use terms like ‘goal-setting’, ‘desired outcomes’, ‘hopes’, ‘dreams’ or simply ‘next steps’, this workshop will be a chance to fill your ‘change tool-box’ with new ideas.
