Card hacks for… Respectful Relationships

Facilitator: Alison Krusec

You might recognise this familiar mob of animal friends. They’re back in print—in a whole new guise—to help us understand what makes healthy and respectful relationships.

Respectful Relationships are perfect for having conversations with children about how they can notice strengths in themselves and others, friendship behaviours, feelings and body signals, social anxiety, peer pressure and bullying, being inclusive and valuing people’s differences.

In this 30-minute FREE online session we will explore:

  • how naming the characteristics of a respectful relationship is important to a child’s social and emotional development
  • different ways to use Respectful Relationships in classrooms and early childhood settings to talk about feelings, body signals and safety
  • questions you can ask to encourage reflective conversations
  • some fun ideas for using the cards to create rapport and respect in groups and teams, including sports teams
  • how social workers, teachers, foster carers, counsellors, or parents could use the cards to help children navigate relationship breakdowns and connect after trauma
  • tips and ideas from other practitioners and individuals who’ve successfully used Respectful Relationships

This session is ideal for early childhood educators, primary school teachers, parents and carers, child and family workers, psychologists, counsellors, school wellbeing staff, group facilitators and coaches.
